Bolinas Museum Presents Two Performances By Zaccho Dance Theater
Sunday November 10th , 2019
4:00 pm Free with $10 – $20 suggested donation
Space is limited / Advanced reservations at bolinasmuseum.org
Two performances by Zaccho Dance Theatre
Choreography and Direction by Joanna Haigood / Set Design and Fabrication by Wayne Campbell / Music by jazz composer Marcus Shelby
Performance 1: Saturday, November 9, 7 PM @ Dance Palace, Point Reyes Station
Performance 2: Sunday, November 10, 4 PM @ Bolinas Community Center, Bolinas – Reception follows
This thought-provoking thirty minute contemporary dance performance was commissioned by Oakland’s Equal Justice Society in 2011, and created in response to their campaign to restore 14th Amendment protections for victims of discrimination. This includes those on death row, where there is a disproportionate number of African Americans and people of color. The work is even more powerful today as California moves toward abolishing the death penalty. This program is presented as part the exhibition FOCUS: Joanna Haigood + Wayne Campbell. A community discussion with the artists and experts in the field follows.
Supported by a generous grant from the West Marin Fund and presented as a way to raise awareness of how women such as nationally celebrated dander/choreographer and West Marin resident Joanna Haigood are seeking to address compelling societal issues through the arts.

The Boys Who said NO!
Draft Resistance and the Vietnam War
The Boys Who Said NO! is the little-known story of a small group of courageous citizens who rose up and took decisive action when they saw their government doing terrible wrong. Draft resisters refused military service to bring attention to their cause and let others know they too could resist. Eventually millions of Americans protested in the streets, and the war was ended. For the first time in American history, a citizen uprising forced the government to end a war.

Dolores : Rebel Activist Feminist Mother
This film tells the story of Dolores Huerta, among the most important, yet least known, activists in American history.
An equal partner in co-founding the first farm workers unions with Cesar Chavez, her enormous contributions have gone largely unrecognized. Dolores tirelessly led the fight for racial and labor justice, becoming one of the most defiant feminists of the twentieth century.

Will Durst’s BoomeRaging – From LSD to OMG
The Bolinas Community Center Presents
Will Durst’s BOOMERAGING: FROM LSD TO OMG.
Door 6:30 pm Show 7:00 pm Tickets $12 Click here to purchase tickets
Cash Bar
The man the New York Times calls “quite possibly, the best political comedian working in the country today,” Will Durst, proudly takes to the road with his acclaimed show that has been running since 2013 in the Bay Area. “BoomeRaging: From LSD to OMG”, is an uproarious tribute to the joys, achievements, frustrations, and looming doom of the Baby Boom Generation. In this rollicking 85- minute monologue, Durst explains why his chronologically gifted brothers and sisters should continue to refuse to grow old in the face of gravity no matter how many times they forget their password retrieval question. It’s what happens when acid flashbacks meet dementia. A celebration of the maturation of the Boomer Nation: culminating in an extra, added special treat- the Meaning of Life.
Ably assisted by his genially acerbic wit and trusty overhead projector, Durst explores the Boomer revolutions, evolutions and still vibrant role in today’s youth obsessed society (which we invented, for crum’s sake). He shamelessly strokes egos and pats hands, encouraging the Flower Power Generation to persevere through segments entitled The Psychedelic Colonoscopy, Still Doing Drugs, Only Now There’s a Co- Pay & From the Summer of Love to the Winter of Our Incontinence. It’s funny. It’s smart. Clean and uplifting, even. A unique theatrical event delivered with stand- up timing and not less than a modicum of poetry.
Special Note: Due to the use of startlingly archaic technology, children under the age of 40 will not be admitted unless accompanied by a guardian or if they bring a note. We apologize for any inconvenience.
